Gavin (20:00) Aye. I do. *in a voice completely devoid of jest*
Gavin (20:01) *grabs an earthenware mug from the crude and dusty shelf, dunks it into the full barrel of honey mead and then sets it in front of Cory*
Cory Briggs (20:03) *reaches into his pocket and pulls out a small pouch, from which he takes some small green stones and lays then on the bar as payment*
Amyntas (20:04) *The door opens again, a small bit of rain being blown in as another enters. She is a young woman by the looks over, except for the silvery white hair that is revealed as she pushes back her hood; allowing the door to close behind her. With quiet footsteps, she moves from the door to the bar of the establishment, taking a cautious look around.*
Cory Briggs (20:04) *tastes the drink, finds it to his liking, tho strange*
Gavin (20:04) *nods, pockets the stones* Might you also be needin' a room, lad?
Gavin (20:06) *cautiously eyes the young woman*
Cory Briggs (20:06) *dares a glance at the young lady, wonders if he could get a room for two* Aye, sir. Doesn't have to be anything fine. Just what's available.
Amyntas (20:08) *She looks between Cory and Gavin with pale blue eyes.* Do you have any food here?
Gavin (20:08) *nods at Cory and holds up 5 fingers*
Gavin (20:11) *nods towards the massive hearth across the floor from them* 3 day peas and porridge, roast wild boar, mushroom stew, and roast tubers.
Cory Briggs (20:13) *while the barkeep is busy with the woman, he checks the contents of his pouch. Not knowing how many days he'll be in this place, he hesitates to spend too much the very first night*
Amyntas (20:13) *Her gaze lingers on Cory, as though he had just said something before she looks at Gavin again.* May I have some stew and tubers, please.
Gavin (20:19) *bangs loudly on the bar and grunts*
Gerti (20:21) *a girl of her middles comes out from a door. She has an overly submissive disposition as she completely refuses to make any eye contact with anyone in the room. She collects a clay bowl of stew from the cauldron, then a wood plank with the potatoes, and sets them all on one of the 4 long bench tables at an open spot near the fire. She then motions at at Amyntas to sit before her meal.*
Amyntas (20:21) *Jumps a little, startled by the sudden banging.* Did I say something wrong?
Cory Briggs (20:21) *makes a decision* *takes five small plain rocks from the pouch, holds them in his closed hand a moment, whispering* *opens his hand and they are green like the ones he'd laid down before* *small sigh of relief* *puts them on the bar for the barkeep*
Amyntas (20:23) *She looks away from Gavin and to Gerti. With a slight nod, she steps over to where the food was set for her.* Thank you.
Gavin (20:23) *swoops up the stones and pockets them quickly, then looks at Amyntas, grunts, and sharply shakes his head just once*
Gerti (20:25) *nervously nods, keeps her eyes averted, and backs away*
Cory Briggs (20:25) *drinks some more of the beverage, finding it sweeter than he expected* *after his day's ride, it takes effect sooner rather than later* So, barkeep, tell me of your town. Is it a fine place to live?
Amyntas (20:28) I don't have much to pay with. *She reaches a hand inside of her cloak and then withdraws it. She extends her hand to Gerti and opens it to reveal a tiny clear red crystal.* Will this pay for it?
Gavin (20:29) *shrugs* Fine enough if you don't mind taxes, religion, and overly ambitiously incompetent constables.
Cory Briggs (20:30) *winces* Sorry to hear that, sir. *studies Gerti* And what about you, miss? Anything you like about this town?
Gerti (20:31) *starts to wave her off in defference to Gavin, but suddenly becomes very fixed on the gem*
Cory Briggs (20:33) *surprised, turns to see what fascinates the girl*
Amyntas (20:33) *While patiently waiting for Gerti's reply, she glances over at Cory again; curious.*
Cory Briggs (20:34) What sort of rock is that, miss? I consider myself rather a collector.
Amyntas (20:36) It's from Rythea, where I'm from. They're used for payment.
Gerti (20:36) *snatches the rock and runs out the back door*
Cory Briggs (20:37) *blink* Perhaps she is taking it back there?
Gavin (20:39) *scowls and growls, but doesn't chase after her*
Amyntas (20:39) *Blinks as the gem disappears from her hand and Gerti runs out.* I... don't know. *She looks at Cory again, seemingly wanting to ask something but unsure if she should.*
Cory Briggs (20:40) She must think it valuable. Maybe it fell from Heaven.
Amyntas (20:42) *Blinks at Cory.* No. It came out of the ground.
Cory Briggs (20:43) Of course. It's only a rock, after all.
Amyntas (20:45) Would you like to eat with me? *It wasn't the question she really wanted to ask him, but she figured it was a start.*
Cory Briggs (20:46) I'll sit with you, certainly. *doesn't want to admit he'd already spent more than he should*
Gerti (20:48) *sits in the alley behind the inn, rain refusing to hit her, she observes the crystal that is glowing and floating above her cupped hands. The veins of her hands also glowing a faint red leaving a crimson road map all the way to her elbows*
Amyntas (20:49) *Watches him a little longer as she takes a bite of the stew, figuring it would be cool enough now to not scald her tongue.*
Cory Briggs (20:49) *nods to the barkeep and moves over to join Amyntas*
Gavin (20:50) *completely ignores Cory and Amyntas*
Amyntas (20:52) *She leans in closer to Cory once he is sitting with her, hesitates a moment and then whispers.* Are you from the temple of winds in Entha?
Cory Briggs (20:52) Not that I know of, milady.
Amyntas (20:54) Oh. Sorry. *Returns to sitting normally, embarrassed.* I saw what you did and thought maybe...
Cory Briggs (20:56) *startled* What I--did?
Amyntas (20:58) *Nods a little.*
Cory Briggs (20:59) *looks to see if barkeep overheard, but he seems not to notice* Do you... also?
